I had a very full weekend. Friday night I had people over and welcomed them into the Esoteric Order of Dagon, which still stands as one of my favorite movies. I still think that, technically, it has a happy ending. It just depends on your perspective.
Saturday I went geocaching in Lough Hyne, a gorgeous inlet a fair drive from here. We hiked up the Knockomagh Summit to find the cache–I hadn’t been expecting such a trek!
When we got back I had just enough time for dinner before heading into town for some swing dancing lessons. I’ve been learning to lead, which is a LOT more difficult than I had imagined, even with my previous experience. But I must be doing something right, because the woman I was partnered with in the beginning didn’t want to change partners for the rest of the night. Hee!
Sunday we went back to the Strasbourg Goose for breakfast and then wandered down to Fitzgeralds Park for the Lord Mayor’s Picnic. There’s this huge Midsummer Festival going on in town for 2 weeks, with lots of theater and dance and other stuff happening each night. The picnic was awesome, lots of fun events and music and I had a very tasty slice of carrot and passionfruit cake. My favorite parts were the giant doggie art project and the trapeeze show.
Later in the evening I went to the Nofit State Circus show, ImMortal. People, it was AWESOME. Although I wish I had known I’d be standing for 2 hours, I would have worn better shoes. It was a slow walk home. Seeing that show made me wish I had done something productive with my life, like join the circus.
Anyways, I’m not taking in much else from the Festival this week aside from seeing a production of Tempest.. There’s a few other shows that had my interest but honestly the ticket prices were all a bit too high. Although if I do end up going to visit Ashfae in August, maybe I can catch ImMortal again at the Fringe Festival.
